Pottstown is a borough located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is situated approximately 40 miles northwest of Philadelphia and is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. With a population of 22,332 as of the 2010 census, Pottstown is the largest borough in Montgomery County.

Pottstown was founded in 1752 by John Potts, an ironmaster from nearby Pottsgrove. The borough was named after him and quickly became an industrial center due to its location along the Schuylkill River. Pottstown played a significant role in the iron and steel industry during the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The borough is situated in the southeastern part of Pennsylvania and is surrounded by several townships, including Lower Pottsgrove Township, Upper Pottsgrove Township, and West Pottsgrove Township.

As of the 2010 census, Pottstown had a population of 22,332 people. The racial makeup of the borough was 72.1% White, 19.5% African American, 0.4% Native American, 1.2% Asian, and 4.6% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 12.1% of the population.

Pottstown has a diverse economy with a mix of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, retail, and education. The borough is home to several major employers, including Pottstown Hospital, Exelon Corporation, and Montgomery County Community College.
