Prague (Template:Lang-cs) is the capital city and largest city of the Czech Republic, as well as the historical capital of Bohemia. Situated on the Vltava River, Prague is home to about 1.3 million people, while its metropolitan area is estimated to have a population of 2.7 million. The city has a temperate oceanic climate, with relatively warm summers and chilly winters.

The history of Prague spans over a thousand years, beginning with its founding in the 9th century. According to legend, the city was founded by Princess Libuše and her husband, Přemysl the Ploughman, who established the Přemyslid dynasty.
During the 14th century, under the reign of Charles IV, Prague became the capital of the Holy Roman Empire and flourished as a cultural and economic center. The construction of the Charles Bridge, St. Vitus Cathedral, and the establishment of Charles University are notable achievements from this period.
