Prince George County is a county located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 43,010. Its county seat is Prince George.

Prince George County was formed in 1703 from parts of Charles City County. It was named for Prince George of Denmark, the husband of Queen Anne of Great Britain. The county has a rich history, including significant events during the American Civil War.
Geography[edit | edit source]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 282 square miles, of which 266 square miles is land and 16 square miles (5.7%) is water. The county is part of the Richmond, Virginia metropolitan area.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the 2020 census, there were 43,010 people, 15,000 households, and 10,000 families residing in the county. The population density was 162 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the county was 60% White, 30% African American, 5% Asian, and 5% from other races.

Prince George County is governed by a Board of Supervisors. The county is part of Virginia's 4th congressional district.

The county is served by Prince George County Public Schools, which includes several elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school.

The economy of Prince George County is diverse, with significant contributions from agriculture, manufacturing, and services. The county is home to several large employers, including Fort Lee, a major United States Army installation.
