The Deep Artery of the Thigh, also known as the Profunda Femoris Artery, is a large branch of the Femoral Artery. It is responsible for supplying blood to the deep structures of the Thigh.

Anatomy

The Deep Artery of the Thigh arises from the lateral side of the Femoral Artery, usually 3.5 to 5 cm below the Inguinal Ligament. It travels down the posterior aspect of the thigh, giving off several branches along its course.

Branches

The Deep Artery of the Thigh gives off three main branches:

• Medial Circumflex Femoral Artery
• Lateral Circumflex Femoral Artery
• Perforating Arteries

Clinical Significance

The Deep Artery of the Thigh is an important vessel in the lower limb. It is often involved in Peripheral Artery Disease and can be a site of Aneurysm formation.
