Quality Assurance International[edit | edit source]

Quality Assurance International (QAI) is a U.S.-based international organic certification company that is authorized by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as a third-party certifier. QAI is a member of the National Organic Program (NOP) and is fully accredited to certify organic operations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, and the European Union.

History[edit | edit source]

QAI was founded in 1989 in San Diego, California. The company was established with the aim of providing organic certification services to the burgeoning organic food industry. Over the years, QAI has grown to become one of the leading organic certification bodies in the world.

Services[edit | edit source]

QAI offers a range of services to businesses in the organic food industry. These include organic certification, Non-GMO Project verification, gluten-free certification, and kosher certification. QAI also provides training and education services to help businesses understand and comply with organic standards.

Organic Certification[edit | edit source]

QAI's organic certification program is designed to verify that a product meets the standards set by the USDA's National Organic Program. The certification process involves a detailed review of the product's ingredients, production process, and labeling. Once a product is certified, it can carry the USDA Organic seal and the QAI certification mark.

Non-GMO Project Verification[edit | edit source]

In addition to organic certification, QAI also offers Non-GMO Project verification. This service is designed to verify that a product does not contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The Non-GMO Project is a non-profit organization that offers North America's only third-party verification for non-GMO food and products.

Gluten-Free Certification[edit | edit source]

QAI's gluten-free certification program is designed to verify that a product meets the standards for gluten-free labeling set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This certification is important for consumers who have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity.

Kosher Certification[edit | edit source]

QAI also offers kosher certification in partnership with Star-K Kosher Certification. This service verifies that a product meets the dietary laws of kashrut as outlined in the Torah.

Training and Education[edit | edit source]

QAI provides training and education services to help businesses understand and comply with organic standards. These services include workshops, webinars, and on-site training sessions.
