Queens Community Board 3
Queens Community Board 3 is a local government body in the New York City borough of Queens, responsible for advising on land use and zoning, participating in the city budget process, and addressing community concerns. It encompasses the neighborhoods of Jackson Heights, East Elmhurst, and North Corona.

The concept of community boards in New York City was established in the 1950s, with the aim of improving communication between local communities and the city government. Queens Community Board 3, like all community boards, was created as part of the New York City Charter.
Structure[edit | edit source]
Queens Community Board 3 is composed of up to 50 volunteer members appointed by the Queens Borough President, half of whom are nominated by the City Council members who represent the community district. The board has a District Manager who oversees the delivery of city services and handles complaints.
Responsibilities[edit | edit source]
The board plays an advisory role in a variety of local issues, including land use and zoning, city budget, municipal service delivery, and many others. It reviews and makes recommendations on the City's budget proposal, municipal service delivery, and applications for changes in zoning.

Queens Community Board 3 holds monthly meetings that are open to the public. These meetings often feature presentations from various city agencies and elected officials, as well as public hearings on land use and other matters.

Queens Community Board 3 serves three neighborhoods: Jackson Heights, East Elmhurst, and North Corona. Each of these neighborhoods has its own unique character and history, contributing to the diversity of the community district.
