Queensboro Hill, Queens

Queensboro Hill is a neighborhood located in the borough of Queens in New York City. It is part of Queens Community Board 7 and is bounded by the Van Wyck Expressway to the west, the Long Island Expressway to the north, Kissena Boulevard to the east, and Main Street to the south.

The area now known as Queensboro Hill was originally settled by the Matinecock tribe of the Algonquin nation. In the 17th century, the area was colonized by the Dutch and later by the English. The neighborhood's name is derived from the Queensboro Corporation, which began developing the area in the early 20th century.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the 2010 Census, Queensboro Hill had a population of approximately 16,000. The neighborhood is diverse, with a large number of Asian Americans, particularly of Chinese and Korean descent.

Education[edit | edit source]

Queensboro Hill is served by the New York City Department of Education. The neighborhood is home to several public and private schools, including Queens College.

Transportation[edit | edit source]

The neighborhood is served by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's bus routes. The Flushing – Main Street subway station is also nearby.

Notable people[edit | edit source]

Several notable individuals have hailed from Queensboro Hill, including Mario Cuomo, former Governor of New York, and Ron Jeremy, adult film actor.
