Quell
Quell is a wearable technology developed by NeuroMetrix, a healthcare company that specializes in neuroscience and biomedical engineering. The device is designed to provide widespread relief from chronic pain.
Overview[edit | edit source]
Quell is a 100% drug-free system that uses prescription-strength transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) to relieve chronic pain. It is designed to be worn on the upper calf, regardless of the location of the pain, and is activated by simply clicking a button. Quell stimulates the sensory nerves, which then send neural pulses to the brain. These pulses trigger a natural pain relief response in the central nervous system.
Technology[edit | edit source]
The technology behind Quell is based on TENS, which has been used by healthcare professionals for many years to manage chronic pain. Quell's proprietary OptiTherapy technology automatically adjusts therapy and dose to ensure patient comfort and relief. The device is also Bluetooth-enabled, allowing users to control therapy and track sleep, activity, and pain in the Quell app.
Clinical Studies[edit | edit source]
Clinical studies have shown that 81% of Quell users reported an improvement in their chronic pain. The device is FDA cleared for use during the day while active, and at night while sleeping. It can be used for multiple types and sources of chronic pain including back pain, arthritis pain, nerve pain, leg and foot pain, among others.
