Rachel Van Hollebeke

Rachel Van Hollebeke (born August 26, 1985), née Rachel Buehler, is a retired American soccer player and former member of the United States women's national soccer team. She played as a defender and was known for her strong defensive skills and leadership on the field.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Rachel Van Hollebeke was born in Del Mar, California. She attended Torrey Pines High School where she excelled in soccer and was named a Parade All-American. Van Hollebeke went on to attend Stanford University, where she played for the Stanford Cardinal women's soccer team from 2003 to 2007. She majored in human biology and was a standout player, earning multiple accolades including NSCAA All-American honors.

Club Career[edit | edit source]

Van Hollebeke began her professional career with the San Diego WFC SeaLions in the W-League. She later played for the Pali Blues, helping the team to win the W-League Championship in 2008. In 2009, she joined the Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) league, playing for the FC Gold Pride and later the Boston Breakers.

After the WPS folded, Van Hollebeke played for the Portland Thorns FC in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). She was part of the Thorns' squad that won the inaugural NWSL Championship in 2013.

International Career[edit | edit source]

Van Hollebeke made her debut for the United States women's national soccer team in 2008. She was a member of the team that won the 2008 Summer Olympics gold medal in Beijing. She also played in the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, where the U.S. finished as runners-up, and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where the team won another gold medal.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Rachel Van Hollebeke is married to Bobby Van Hollebeke. After retiring from professional soccer, she pursued a career in medicine and attended the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine.
