Rakesh Khurana
Rakesh Khurana is an American educator, scholar, and administrator. He is the Dean of Harvard College, a position he has held since July 2014. Khurana is also the Marvin Bower Professor of Leadership Development at the Harvard Business School and co-master of Cabot House at Harvard University.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Rakesh Khurana was born in India and immigrated to the United States with his family at a young age. He grew up in Queens, New York. Khurana earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and later received his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Harvard University.
Academic Career[edit | edit source]
Khurana's academic work focuses on the study of leadership and organizational behavior. He has published extensively on the topics of leadership, corporate governance, and the role of business education in society. His notable works include the book From Higher Aims to Hired Hands: The Social Transformation of American Business Schools and the Unfulfilled Promise of Management as a Profession.
Harvard College Dean[edit | edit source]
As Dean of Harvard College, Khurana has been involved in several initiatives aimed at improving the undergraduate experience. He has focused on issues such as inclusivity, mental health, and the residential house system. Under his leadership, Harvard College has implemented several reforms to enhance student life and academic support.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Rakesh Khurana is married to Stephanie Khurana, and they have three children. The family resides in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
