- Ravenswood was first settled in 1771 by William and George Ravenscroft. The city was incorporated in 1852 and has since grown into a thriving community with a population of approximately 3,876 as of the 2010 census.

- Ravenswood is located at 38°57′11″N 81°45′41″W. The city has a total area of 1.90 square miles, of which 1.79 square miles is land and 0.11 square miles is water.
