Ream Al-Hasani

Ream Al-Hasani is a notable neuroscientist and professor who is recognized for her significant contributions to the field of neuroscience. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Ream Al-Hasani was born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq. She moved to the United States to pursue her higher education. She completed her undergraduate studies in Biology and Chemistry at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She then went on to earn her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Saint Louis University.

After completing her Ph.D., Al-Hasani undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, where she focused on studying the neurobiology of opioid addiction. She then joined the faculty at the University of Illinois at Chicago as an Assistant Professor.

Al-Hasani's research primarily focuses on understanding the neurobiological mechanisms underlying drug addiction and pain. She is particularly interested in studying the role of opioid receptors in these processes. Her work has significantly advanced our understanding of the neurobiology of addiction and has potential implications for the development of new treatments for addiction and pain.

Al-Hasani has received numerous awards and recognition for her work. She was awarded the NARSAD Young Investigator Grant from the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation and the NIH's K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award.
