Recovery Road is an American teen drama television series based on the young adult novel of the same name by Blake Nelson. The series was developed by Bert V. Royal and Karen DiConcetto, and it premiered on Freeform on January 25, 2016. The show focuses on the life of a teenage girl dealing with addiction and her journey towards recovery.

The series follows Maddie Graham, a high school student who struggles with addiction. After being confronted by her school guidance counselor, she is given the choice between expulsion and rehab. Maddie chooses to live in a sober living facility, where she meets other recovering addicts and begins her path to sobriety. The show explores themes of addiction, recovery, and the challenges of maintaining sobriety while dealing with the pressures of teenage life.

The series was ordered by Freeform in December 2014. The pilot episode was directed by Lawrence Trilling. The show was produced by Pilgrim Studios and Craig Piligian served as an executive producer.

Cancellation[edit | edit source]

On May 13, 2016, Freeform announced that Recovery Road would not be renewed for a second season. The decision was met with disappointment from fans who had hoped to see more of Maddie's journey.
