Red Hot Chili Peppers
Red Hot Chili Peppers (often abbreviated as RHCP) is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1983. The band's music incorporates elements of alternative rock, funk, punk rock, and psychedelic rock. The group consists of vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith, and guitarist John Frusciante.
History[edit | edit source]
The Red Hot Chili Peppers were formed by Anthony Kiedis, Flea, guitarist Hillel Slovak, and drummer Jack Irons. The band released their self-titled debut album, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, in 1984. Their early albums were not commercially successful, but they gained a following for their energetic live performances and unique sound.
In 1988, Slovak died of a heroin overdose, and Irons left the band. They were replaced by guitarist John Frusciante and drummer Chad Smith. This lineup recorded the band's breakthrough album, Mother's Milk (1989), followed by the highly successful Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991), which included hit singles such as "Give It Away" and "Under the Bridge".
