Renaud Muselier
Renaud Muselier (born 6 May 1959) is a French politician who has been serving as the President of the Regional Council of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur since 2017. He is a member of the The Republicans (LR) party.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Renaud Muselier was born in Marseille, Bouches-du-Rhône, France. He comes from a family with a long history in the region. Muselier studied medicine and became a doctor, specializing in radiology.
Political Career[edit | edit source]
Muselier began his political career in the early 1990s. He was first elected to the National Assembly in 1993, representing the 5th constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône. He served in this position until 2002.
Deputy Mayor of Marseille[edit | edit source]
From 1995 to 2008, Muselier served as the Deputy Mayor of Marseille, working under Mayor Jean-Claude Gaudin. During his tenure, he was responsible for various portfolios, including health and international relations.
Member of the European Parliament[edit | edit source]
In 2014, Muselier was elected as a Member of the European Parliament, where he served until 2019. During his time in the European Parliament, he was a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Subcommittee on Human Rights.
President of the Regional Council of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur[edit | edit source]
In 2017, Muselier was elected President of the Regional Council of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, succeeding Christian Estrosi. As President, he has focused on economic development, transportation, and environmental sustainability in the region.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Renaud Muselier is married and has three children. He continues to reside in Marseille.
