The Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF; Hangul: 대한민국 공군; Hanja: 大韓民國 空軍; RR: Daehanminguk Gong-gun) is the aerial warfare service branch of the Republic of Korea Armed Forces. It was founded on October 1, 1949, shortly after the establishment of the Republic of Korea (South Korea) in 1948. The ROKAF is responsible for aerial defense, air superiority, and air support operations.
