Rescue Diver

Rescue Diver is a certification level within recreational scuba diving, emphasizing emergency response and diver rescue. The certification is provided by several organizations, including PADI, SSI, and NAUI.

Overview

The Rescue Diver course provides divers with the skills and knowledge necessary to manage risks and effectively handle limited in-water problems and diving emergencies. It is a pivotal step in expanding a diver's knowledge and experience. Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves to consider the safety and well-being of other divers.

Prerequisites

To enroll in a Rescue Diver course, divers must have an Advanced Open Water Diver certification or equivalent from a recognized training agency and be trained for first aid and CPR within the last two years.

Course Content

The Rescue Diver course covers a wide range of topics, including self-rescue, recognizing and managing stress in other divers, emergency management and equipment, rescuing panicked divers, and rescuing unresponsive divers.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, divers are awarded the Rescue Diver certification. This certification is a prerequisite for leadership-level training, such as Divemaster and Dive Instructor courses.
