Rick Stanton
Rick Stanton is a British cave diver known for his significant contributions to cave diving and underwater rescue operations. He is particularly renowned for his role in the Tham Luang cave rescue in 2018, where he played a crucial part in the successful extraction of twelve boys and their football coach from a flooded cave in Thailand.

Rick Stanton was born in Coventry, England. He developed an interest in diving at a young age and pursued it as a hobby before turning it into a professional career. Stanton worked as a firefighter, which provided him with skills and experience that proved invaluable in his diving endeavors.

Stanton is considered one of the world's leading cave divers. He has participated in numerous challenging and high-profile cave diving expeditions. His expertise in navigating complex underwater cave systems has earned him a reputation for being able to undertake and succeed in some of the most difficult and dangerous dives.
Tham Luang Cave Rescue[edit | edit source]
In June 2018, Stanton was called upon to assist in the rescue of twelve boys and their football coach who were trapped in the Tham Luang cave in Thailand. The rescue operation was one of the most complex and perilous in history, involving a team of international divers and experts. Stanton, along with his diving partner John Volanthen, was among the first to locate the trapped group. Their efforts, along with those of many others, led to the successful rescue of all thirteen individuals.
Awards and Recognition[edit | edit source]
For his bravery and expertise, Rick Stanton has received numerous awards and honors. He was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his services to cave diving and underwater rescue.
