Rockaway Park, Queens
Rockaway Park, Queens is a neighborhood located in the New York City borough of Queens. It is situated on the Rockaway Peninsula, the southernmost area of Queens. The neighborhood is part of Queens Community Board 14.

Rockaway Park was established in the late 19th century as a seaside resort town, attracting visitors with its sandy beaches and amusement park. The neighborhood was incorporated into the city of New York in 1898.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Rockaway Park is bordered by Jamaica Bay to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. It is adjacent to the neighborhoods of Belle Harbor to the west and Neponsit to the east.
Transportation[edit | edit source]
Rockaway Park is served by the New York City Subway's A and S trains at the Rockaway Park – Beach 116th Street station. The neighborhood is also served by the Q22, Q35, and Q53 bus routes.
Education[edit | edit source]
The neighborhood is served by the New York City Department of Education. Schools in the area include P.S. 114 Belle Harbor School and Scholars' Academy, a 6-12 school.
Recreation[edit | edit source]
Rockaway Park is known for its beachfront, which is part of the Gateway National Recreation Area. The neighborhood also features the Rockaway Beach and Boardwalk, a popular destination for swimming, surfing, and sunbathing.
Notable residents[edit | edit source]
Notable residents of Rockaway Park have included Patti Smith, a singer-songwriter and poet, and Phil Carey, an actor known for his role on the soap opera One Life to Live.
