Ronnie Lee Gardner (January 16, 1961 – June 18, 2010) was an American criminal who gained notoriety for his actions that led to his execution by firing squad in Utah.

Gardner was born on January 16, 1961, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He had a troubled upbringing and was involved in criminal activities from a young age.

Gardner's criminal record included convictions for armed robbery, burglary, and assault. In 1985, he was on trial for murder when he attempted to escape from custody at a court hearing. During the escape attempt, he fatally shot attorney Michael Burdell and wounded bailiff Nick Kirk.

Gardner was convicted of murder and sentenced to death. Despite appeals and efforts to overturn his sentence, he was executed by firing squad on June 18, 2010, at the Utah State Prison in Draper, Utah.
