Royal Adelaide
Royal Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia, and one of the most populous cities in Australia. It is known for its many festivals and sporting events, its food and wine, its coastline and hills, and its large defence and manufacturing sectors.

Royal Adelaide was established as a British province in 1836, and its early history was marked by economic prosperity and innovations in public works, particularly in areas such as water and sanitation. The city became noted for its progressivism, with women's suffrage and the abolition of the death penalty being early milestones.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Royal Adelaide is located on the Adelaide Plains between the Gulf St Vincent and the Mount Lofty Ranges. The city is divided into North and South Adelaide, separated by the River Torrens. The city has many parks and green areas, with the Adelaide Park Lands surrounding the city centre.
Economy[edit | edit source]
The economy of Royal Adelaide is primarily based on manufacturing, defence, export and service sectors. The city is also a centre for education and research, with three universities and several research institutes.
Culture[edit | edit source]
Royal Adelaide is known for its many festivals, including the Adelaide Festival, the Fringe Festival, and WOMADelaide. The city is also home to the Art Gallery of South Australia, the South Australian Museum, and the Adelaide Zoo.

Royal Adelaide has a comprehensive transport system, with a network of roads, railways, and tramways. The city is served by the Adelaide Airport, which is the fifth busiest airport in Australia.
