Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is a franchise cricket team based in Bangalore, Karnataka, that plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team was founded in 2008 by United Spirits and named after the company's liquor brand, Royal Challenge. The team has played its home matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium since its inception.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore was established in 2008 when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the formation of the IPL. The franchise was purchased by Vijay Mallya, the owner of United Spirits, for $111.6 million, making it one of the most expensive teams in the league.
