History[edit | edit source]
The team was formed in 2008 when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the establishment of the Indian Premier League. The franchise was purchased by Vijay Mallya, then chairman of United Spirits, for $111.6 million, making it the second most expensive team in the league at the time.

The team's home ground is the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. The stadium has a seating capacity of 40,000 and is known for its electric atmosphere during matches.
Team Performance[edit | edit source]
RCB has been one of the most popular teams in the IPL, known for its strong batting lineup. Despite this, the team has not won an IPL title yet, finishing as runners-up on three occasions: in 2009, 2011, and 2016.
Notable Players[edit | edit source]
Over the years, RCB has been home to several prominent cricketers, including:
- Virat Kohli - Former captain and one of the leading run-scorers in IPL history.
- AB de Villiers - Known for his explosive batting and versatility.
- Chris Gayle - Famous for his powerful hitting and record-breaking innings.

As of the latest season, the team is captained by Faf du Plessis and coached by Sanjay Bangar. The squad includes a mix of experienced international players and young Indian talent.
