Russell Edward Brand (born 4 June 1975) is an English comedian, actor, and author. Known for his flamboyant and loquacious style, Brand has had a varied career in stand-up comedy, television, film, and radio.
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Brand was born in Grays, Essex, England. He had a difficult childhood, marked by his parents' divorce and his mother's battle with cancer. Brand attended the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London.

Stand-Up Comedy[edit | edit source]
Brand began his career as a stand-up comedian in 2000. He gained popularity with his unique style and was soon performing at major venues and festivals, including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Television[edit | edit source]
Brand's television career took off when he hosted the Big Brother's Big Mouth spin-off show. He later hosted his own talk show, The Russell Brand Show, which aired on BBC Radio 2 and later on BBC Radio 6 Music.
Film[edit | edit source]
Brand made his film debut in St Trinian's (2007). He gained international fame for his role as Aldous Snow in Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) and its spin-off, Get Him to the Greek (2010). He has also appeared in films such as Despicable Me (2010), Arthur (2011), and Rock of Ages (2012).

Brand is also an accomplished author, having written several books including his memoirs My Booky Wook (2007) and Booky Wook 2: This Time It's Personal (2010). He has also written on topics such as politics and spirituality.

Brand married American singer Katy Perry in 2010, but the couple divorced in 2012. He has been open about his struggles with substance abuse and has been sober since 2002. Brand is also known for his activism and has been involved in various social and political causes.
