The Russian National Research Medical University (RNRMU), also known as Pirogov Medical University, is one of the leading medical universities in Russia. It is located in Moscow, the capital city of Russia. The university is named after the famous Russian surgeon and anatomist Nikolay Pirogov.

The university was established in 1906 as the Higher Medical Courses for Women, which was the first institution in Russia to offer women the opportunity to pursue higher education in medicine. In 1930, it became the Second Moscow State Medical Institute. Over the years, the university has undergone several transformations and name changes, reflecting its evolving role in medical education and research in Russia.
In 2010, the university was granted the status of a National Research University, recognizing its significant contributions to medical research and education.
