In 1987, Ruth Rogers, along with her friend and business partner Rose Gray, opened the River Café on the north bank of the River Thames. The restaurant quickly gained a reputation for its simple, flavorful Italian dishes, and it has since become one of London's most celebrated dining establishments.

Ruth Rogers and Rose Gray also co-authored several successful cookbooks, including The River Cafe Cookbook, Italian Easy: Recipes from the London River Cafe, and River Cafe Two Easy.
