Research has shown that SB-277,011-A can increase the reinforcing effects of cocaine in rats. This suggests that D3 receptors may play a role in cocaine addiction. Other research has shown that the drug can reduce the self-administration of nicotine in rats, suggesting a potential role for D3 receptors in nicotine addiction as well.
