Saint-Émilion
Saint-Émilion is a commune in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. It is one of the principal red wine areas of the Bordeaux wine region, and its vineyards are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Saint-Émilion has a rich history dating back to prehistoric times. The town was named after the monk Émilion, who settled in a hermitage carved into the rock during the 8th century. His followers began the tradition of wine production in the area.

Saint-Émilion is located on the right bank of the Dordogne River, about 35 kilometers northeast of Bordeaux. The region is characterized by its limestone plateau, which provides excellent drainage and contributes to the unique terroir of the wines produced here.
