Saithe
Saithe (also known as Pollock) is a species of marine fish in the Gadidae family. It is a popular food fish in many parts of the world, known for its lean, white flesh and mild flavor.

The Saithe is a large fish, typically reaching lengths of 70-100 cm, but can grow up to 130 cm. It has a streamlined body, a pointed head, and a large mouth with sharp teeth. The coloration of the Saithe is typically dark green to black on the back, with silver sides and a white belly.
Distribution and Habitat[edit | edit source]
Saithe are found in the North Atlantic, from the Bay of Biscay to Spitsbergen, and from Newfoundland to the northern part of the United States. They prefer cold, deep waters and are often found near the sea floor.
Diet[edit | edit source]
Saithe primarily feed on small fish and crustaceans, but they are also known to eat squid and other cephalopods.
Commercial Use[edit | edit source]
Saithe is a commercially important species, with a significant global catch each year. It is used in a variety of dishes, including fish and chips, and is often sold under the name "Pollock" in the United States.
Conservation Status[edit | edit source]
The conservation status of the Saithe is currently listed as "Least Concern" by the IUCN, due to its wide distribution and large population.
