Salfordville, Pennsylvania

Salfordville is a small unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located in the township of Lower Salford, and is known for its rural character and close proximity to the city of Philadelphia.

Salfordville was established in the early 18th century by settlers of German descent. The community was originally part of the larger Salford Township, which was divided into Upper and Lower Salford in 1741. The village was named after the township, which in turn was named after the town of Salford in Lancashire, England.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Salfordville is located in the southeastern part of Pennsylvania, approximately 35 miles northwest of Philadelphia. The community is situated in the Perkiomen Valley, surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The Perkiomen Creek flows nearby, providing opportunities for fishing and boating.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As an unincorporated community, Salfordville does not have its own population statistics. However, the larger Lower Salford Township had a population of approximately 15,000 as of the 2010 census.

The economy of Salfordville is largely based on agriculture, with many farms in the area producing crops such as corn, soybeans, and hay. There are also a number of small businesses in the community, including restaurants, shops, and service providers.

Salfordville is served by the Souderton Area School District, which operates several elementary, middle, and high schools in the area. The district is known for its strong academic programs and high graduation rates.

Salfordville is accessible by several major roads, including Route 63 and Route 113. The community is also served by the SEPTA regional rail system, with the nearest station located in nearby Harleysville.

While Salfordville is a small community, it has been home to several notable individuals, including John F. Wood, Jr., a former member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
