Sam Bankman-Fried (born March 6, 1992) is an American entrepreneur and former CEO of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX. He is also the founder of the cryptocurrency trading firm Alameda Research. Bankman-Fried is known for his significant contributions to the cryptocurrency industry and his advocacy for effective altruism.

Sam Bankman-Fried was born in Stanford, California, to a family of academics. He attended Crystal Springs Uplands School in Hillsborough, California.
