Sam Porcello (May 23, 1935 – May 12, 2012) was an American food scientist who is best known for his work at Nabisco and his invention of the cream filling used in Oreo cookies.

Porcello was born on May 23, 1935. He earned a degree in food science from Rutgers University.

Career[edit | edit source]

Porcello began his career at Nabisco in 1958. He worked there for 34 years, during which time he invented the cream filling used in Oreo cookies. He was known as "Mr. Oreo" within the company.

Death and legacy[edit | edit source]

Porcello died on May 12, 2012. His invention of the Oreo filling has had a lasting impact on the cookie industry.
