Samin Nosrat is an American chef, TV host, and food writer. She is best known for her cookbook, Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat, and the subsequent Netflix series of the same name.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Nosrat was born in San Diego, California, to Iranian parents. She developed an interest in cooking from a young age. Nosrat attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she majored in English.

Career[edit | edit source]

After graduating from college, Nosrat started working at the renowned restaurant Chez Panisse in Berkeley. She worked there for several years, learning the art of cooking and developing her unique approach to food.

In 2017, Nosrat published her first cookbook, Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat. The book was a huge success and won several awards, including the James Beard Award for Best General Cookbook. The book was later adapted into a four-part Netflix series, which Nosrat hosted.

In addition to her work on Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat, Nosrat has written for several publications, including The New York Times and The Guardian. She also hosts a podcast called Home Cooking, where she shares cooking tips and recipes.

Nosrat currently resides in Berkeley, California. She is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion in the food industry.

Nosrat's work has been recognized by several prestigious organizations. In addition to the James Beard Award, she has also received the IACP Cookbook of the Year Award and was listed in Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People of 2019.
