San Miguel Corporation[edit | edit source]

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) is one of the Philippines' largest and most diversified conglomerates, with business interests in beverages, food, packaging, fuel and oil, power, and infrastructure. It was founded in 1890 as a single-product brewery and has since transformed into a beverage, food, and packaging business with over 100 facilities in the Philippines, Southeast Asia, and China.

San Miguel Corporation was established as La Fabrica de Cerveza de San Miguel in 1890 by Enrique Maria Barretto de Ycaza y Esteban. It was first incorporated in 1913 and was renamed San Miguel Brewery, Inc. in 1963. The company has been a significant part of the Philippines' industrialization, being a major player in the country's manufacturing sector.

Business Interests[edit | edit source]

SMC's business interests are categorized into seven segments: Beverages, Food, Packaging, Fuel and Oil, Power, Infrastructure, and Telecommunications.

Beverages[edit | edit source]

The Beverages segment is involved in the manufacture and sale of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. This segment is primarily operated by San Miguel Brewery Inc., Ginebra San Miguel Inc., and San Miguel Foods Inc.

Food[edit | edit source]

The Food segment is engaged in the operation of poultry broiler integration operations, manufacturing and marketing of animal feeds, and other related products. This segment is primarily operated by San Miguel Foods Inc.

Packaging[edit | edit source]

The Packaging segment is involved in the production and marketing of packaging products, such as glass containers, glass molds, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles, and preforms. This segment is primarily operated by San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corporation.

Fuel and Oil[edit | edit source]

The Fuel and Oil segment is engaged in refining and marketing of petroleum products. This segment is primarily operated by Petron Corporation.

Power[edit | edit source]

The Power segment is involved in the generation and marketing of electricity. This segment is primarily operated by SMC Global Power Holdings Corp.

Infrastructure[edit | edit source]

The Infrastructure segment is engaged in the construction and development of various infrastructure projects. This segment is primarily operated by San Miguel Holdings Corp.

Telecommunications[edit | edit source]

The Telecommunications segment is involved in the provision of telecommunications services. This segment is primarily operated by Liberty Telecoms Holdings Inc.

Corporate Social Responsibility[edit | edit source]

San Miguel Corporation is committed to sustainable development, with a particular focus on integrating sustainability into their business strategy. The company's corporate social responsibility initiatives are primarily channeled through the San Miguel Foundation Inc.
