Scottish Blend

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Scottish Blend is a popular brand of tea that originated in Scotland. It is a blend of various types of tea leaves, specifically designed to complement the softness of Scotland's water. The brand is owned by Unilever, a multinational consumer goods company.

History[edit | edit source]

Scottish Blend was first introduced in 1990 by Brooke Bond, a British tea company. The aim was to create a tea blend that would taste better with Scotland's soft water compared to the traditional blends that were designed for hard water areas in England. In 1998, Unilever acquired Brooke Bond and thus became the owner of the Scottish Blend brand.

Composition[edit | edit source]

The exact composition of Scottish Blend is a closely guarded secret. However, it is known that it is a blend of Assam, Kenyan, and Ceylon teas. The blend is designed to produce a full-bodied, rich and flavorful cup of tea.

Popularity[edit | edit source]

Scottish Blend is one of the most popular brands of tea in Scotland. It is also widely consumed in other parts of the UK and exported to various countries around the world.

Environmental Impact[edit | edit source]

Scottish Blend is Rainforest Alliance certified, meaning that the tea is grown and harvested using environmentally sustainable methods. In addition, the brand has committed to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting fair trade practices.
