From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Seattle's Best Coffee is a popular American coffee retailer and wholesaler. It is a subsidiary of Starbucks, which acquired it in 2003. The company has stores in 20 states and provinces, as well as several international locations.

History[edit | edit source]

Seattle's Best Coffee began as a combination ice cream and coffee shop called the Wet Whisker on Whidbey Island, Washington, in 1969. The founders, Jim Stewart and Dave Stewart, purchased green coffee beans from local roasters to be roasted and sold at the Wet Whisker. In 1970, the Stewarts moved their business to Seattle, Washington, and renamed it Stewart Brothers Wet Whisker.

In 1982, Stewart Brothers Wet Whisker entered a competition hosted by the Specialty Coffee Association of America and won the title of "Best Coffee in Seattle." Following this victory, the company changed its name to Seattle's Best Coffee.

Products[edit | edit source]

Seattle's Best Coffee offers a variety of coffee products, including whole bean coffee, ground coffee, and single-serve pods. They also offer a range of flavored coffees, such as Hazelnut and Very Vanilla.

Locations[edit | edit source]

Seattle's Best Coffee has a strong presence in the United States, with locations in many states. Internationally, the company has expanded to several countries, including the Philippines, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates.

Acquisition by Starbucks[edit | edit source]

In 2003, Starbucks acquired Seattle's Best Coffee, making it a wholly-owned subsidiary. Despite the acquisition, Seattle's Best continues to operate under its own brand and has maintained its unique identity.
