It is part of Saline County and is included in the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Conway Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city is known for its quiet, suburban atmosphere and its close proximity to the state capital, Little Rock.

- Shannon Hills is located at 34°39′16″N 92°34′25″W. The city has a total area of 3.1 square miles, all land. It is approximately 20 miles southwest of Little Rock.

- As of the 2010 census, there were 3,143 people, 1,136 households, and 864 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,014.2 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was predominantly White, with a significant African American population and smaller percentages of Native American, Asian, and other races.
