Shelley Sekula-Gibbs
Shelley Sekula-Gibbs (born June 22, 1953) is an American physician and politician. She served as a Member of the United States House of Representatives from Texas's 22nd congressional district from November 13, 2006, to January 3, 2007. She is a member of the Republican Party.
Early life and education[edit | edit source]
Sekula-Gibbs was born in Floresville, Texas. She earned her B.S. degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. She later attended medical school and became a dermatologist.
Medical career[edit | edit source]
Before entering politics, Sekula-Gibbs had a successful career as a physician, specializing in dermatology. She practiced medicine in the Houston, Texas area and was involved in various medical organizations.

Houston City Council[edit | edit source]
Sekula-Gibbs served on the Houston City Council from 2002 to 2006. During her tenure, she focused on issues such as public health, safety, and city infrastructure.
U.S. House of Representatives[edit | edit source]
In 2006, Sekula-Gibbs ran for the United States House of Representatives in a special election to fill the seat vacated by Tom DeLay in Texas's 22nd congressional district. She won the special election and served from November 13, 2006, to January 3, 2007. However, she lost the general election to Nick Lampson.
Personal life[edit | edit source]
Sekula-Gibbs is married to Robert Gibbs, and they have three children. They reside in Houston, Texas.
