Shiseido Company, Limited (Japanese: 株式会社資生堂 , Kabushiki-gaisha Shiseidō) is a Japanese multinational personal care company, that is a major player in the cosmetics and beauty industry. Founded in 1872 by Arinobu Fukuhara, Shiseido is one of the oldest cosmetic companies in the world and the largest in Japan. The company is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

Shiseido was established in 1872 as Japan's first Western-style pharmacy in the Ginza district of Tokyo. The founder, Arinobu Fukuhara, was a former head pharmacist in the Imperial Japanese Navy. The name "Shiseido" means "praise the virtues of the earth which nurtures new life and brings forth significant values."

In 1917, Shiseido introduced its first cosmetic product, the Eudermine lotion, which remains a popular product today. The company expanded its product line to include skin care, makeup, fragrance, and hair care products.
