The community is centered around Shorewood Forest Lake, offering a variety of recreational activities for residents and visitors alike.

- Shorewood Forest is located at 41°29′28″N 87°07′14″W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.8 square miles, of which 2.6 square miles is land and 0.2 square miles is water.

- As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 2,708 people, 964 households, and 813 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,041.5 people per square mile.
