Shrikhand

Shrikhand is a traditional Indian dessert made from strained yogurt. The dish is popular in the Indian states of Maharashtra and Gujarat, where it is served as part of the main meal and as a dessert. Shrikhand is often eaten with puri, a type of Indian bread.

The main ingredient in Shrikhand is yogurt, which is strained overnight in a cloth to remove the whey, resulting in a thick, creamy base. Some variations of Shrikhand also include fruit, such as mango or pomegranate, or nuts like almonds and pistachios.

Shrikhand is often served during festivals and special occasions in Maharashtra and Gujarat. It is a significant dish during the Gudi Padwa festival, the Maharashtrian New Year, and is also popular during weddings and other celebrations.

There are several variations of Shrikhand, including Amrakhand, which is Shrikhand mixed with mango pulp, and Piyush, a beverage made by mixing Shrikhand with buttermilk.
