Sid Collins (broadcaster)
Sid Collins (July 17, 1922 – May 2, 1977) was an American broadcaster best known for his work as the "Voice of the Indianapolis 500" on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network. Collins' distinctive voice and style made him a beloved figure in the world of auto racing.

Sid Collins was born Sidney Cahn in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Shortridge High School and later graduated from Butler University with a degree in speech.

Collins began his broadcasting career at WIBC in Indianapolis. In 1952, he was selected to be the chief announcer for the Indianapolis 500 radio broadcasts. Over the years, Collins became synonymous with the event, providing vivid and engaging commentary that brought the race to life for listeners.

Collins' tenure as the "Voice of the Indianapolis 500" spanned from 1952 until his death in 1977.
