Sir James Horlick, 1st Baronet (1844 – 1921) was a British businessman and philanthropist, best known for co-founding the malted milk drink company Horlicks.

James Horlick was born in 1844 in Ruardean, Gloucestershire, England. He was the son of James Horlick, a miller, and his wife, Priscilla. He was educated locally before moving to London to pursue a career in business.

In 1873, James Horlick emigrated to the United States and settled in Racine, Wisconsin. There, he joined his brother, William Horlick, who had already established a business. Together, they developed a malted milk drink, which they initially marketed as an infant food. The product gained popularity and was later marketed as a nutritional supplement for invalids and travelers.

In 1883, the Horlick brothers established the Horlick's Food Company in Slough, England, to manufacture and distribute their product in the United Kingdom and Europe. The company grew rapidly, and the Horlicks brand became well-known worldwide.

In recognition of his contributions to industry and philanthropy, James Horlick was created a Baronet in 1914, becoming Sir James Horlick, 1st Baronet of Cowley Manor in the County of Gloucester.
