So It's Come to This: A Simpsons Clip Show
So It's Come to This: A Simpsons Clip Show is the 18th episode of the fourth season of The Simpsons. It originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on April 1, 1993. The episode was written by Jon Vitti and directed by Carlos Baeza.
Plot[edit | edit source]
The episode begins with Homer Simpson playing a series of April Fools' Day pranks on Bart Simpson. In retaliation, Bart shakes a can of beer in a paint mixer and places it in the refrigerator. When Homer opens the can, it explodes, causing a massive explosion that sends him to the hospital. While Homer is in a coma, the family reminisces about past events, leading to a series of clips from previous episodes.
Production[edit | edit source]
"So It's Come to This: A Simpsons Clip Show" was produced as a cost-saving measure. Clip shows are typically less expensive to produce because they reuse animation from previous episodes. The episode features clips from various episodes from the first three seasons of The Simpsons.
Reception[edit | edit source]
The episode received mixed reviews from critics. Some praised the humor and the clever use of clips, while others felt it was a lazy way to fill an episode slot. Despite the mixed reviews, the episode was a ratings success, drawing in a large audience.
