Solanum surattense
Solanum surattense, also known as the Yellow Berried Nightshade or Kantakari, is a species of nightshade that is native to South Asia. It is a member of the Solanaceae family, which also includes other well-known plants such as the tomato, potato, and eggplant.

The Solanum surattense is a perennial plant that can grow up to 1 meter in height. It has spiny stems and leaves, with yellow berries that are approximately 1 cm in diameter. The flowers of the plant are white or violet in color.
Distribution and Habitat[edit | edit source]
Solanum surattense is native to South Asia, but it has also been introduced to other parts of the world, including Africa, Australia, and the United States. It is typically found in dry, open areas and is considered a weed in many regions.

In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, Solanum surattense is used to treat a variety of ailments, including coughs, chest pain, and skin diseases. The plant is also used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. However, the plant's berries are toxic and should not be consumed.

Solanum surattense is a hardy plant that can grow in a variety of soil types, although it prefers well-drained soil. It is a sun-loving plant and requires full sun exposure to thrive.
