The CHA Somerville Campus is an outpatient medical center located at 33 Tower Street in Somerville, Massachusetts. It is operated by Cambridge Health Alliance and is affiliated with Harvard Medical School.

The CHA Somerville Campus offers a wide range of health services, including:

  • Medical and Surgery Specialty clinics

Service Highlights[edit | edit source]

The campus is nationally accredited for its CT and Ultrasound services by the American College of Radiology. It is also recognized as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence.

Academics[edit | edit source]

Cambridge Health Alliance serves as a teaching affiliate for several prestigious institutions, including Harvard Medical School, Harvard School of Public Health, Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and Tufts University School of Medicine. The CHA Primary Care, based at the hospital, is a primary teaching location for the CHA Internal Medicine Residency Program.

The CHA Somerville Campus was established in 1891, with the first buildings constructed the following year. In 2009, the inpatient hospital beds were closed, but the emergency department continued to operate as a satellite emergency facility. In April 2020, the emergency department was converted into an Urgent Care Center.

In 2016, the tragic death of Laura Levis outside Somerville Hospital led to the passage of "Laura's Law" in Massachusetts. This law aims to ensure clear and safe access to hospital emergency departments for pedestrians.
