Southeastern Conference
The Southeastern Conference (SEC) is an American college athletic conference whose member institutions are located primarily in the Southern United States. The SEC participates in the NCAA Division I in various sports, including football, basketball, baseball, and more. The conference is known for its strong athletic programs and has a rich history of success in various sports.

The Southeastern Conference was established in December 1932, when 13 members of the Southern Conference left to form their own conference. The founding members were:
- University of Alabama
- University of Florida
- University of Georgia
- University of Kentucky
- University of Mississippi
- University of Tennessee
- Auburn University
- Louisiana State University
- Mississippi State University
- University of the South
- Tulane University
- Vanderbilt University
- Georgia Institute of Technology
Over the years, the conference has seen several changes in membership. Notably, Georgia Institute of Technology left the SEC in 1964, and Tulane University left in 1966. The conference expanded in 1991 with the addition of the University of Arkansas and the University of South Carolina.

The SEC is renowned for its success in various sports, particularly in college football. The conference has produced numerous national champions and Heisman Trophy winners. SEC teams have consistently performed well in NCAA tournaments and have a strong presence in college athletics.
Commissioners[edit | edit source]
The SEC has had several commissioners since its inception. The current commissioner is Greg Sankey, who has held the position since 2015.
