St. John the Baptist Parish is a parish located in the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2020 census, the population was 42,137. The parish seat is Edgard, and the largest city is LaPlace. The parish was established in 1807, making it one of the original parishes of Louisiana.

St. John the Baptist Parish is one of the original 19 parishes created by the Territory of Orleans in 1807. The area was originally settled by French and Spanish colonists in the early 18th century. The parish is named after John the Baptist, a significant figure in Christianity.
