Stater Bros. is a privately held supermarket chain based in San Bernardino, California. It was founded in 1936 by Cleo and Leo Stater when they purchased the original Stater Bros. Market for $600. Today, Stater Bros. operates over 170 stores throughout Southern California.

Cleo and Leo Stater purchased the original Stater Bros. Market in Yucaipa, California in 1936. The brothers expanded the business during the post-World War II boom, and by the 1970s, Stater Bros. had grown to become a major supermarket chain in Southern California.
