Steve Easterbrook
Steve Easterbrook is a British business executive, best known for his role as the CEO of McDonald's Corporation from 2015 to 2019.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Easterbrook was born in Watford, Hertfordshire, England. He attended Watford Grammar School for Boys before going on to study Natural Sciences at St Chad's College, Durham University.
Career[edit | edit source]
Easterbrook began his career at Price Waterhouse, where he trained as an accountant. He joined McDonald's in 1993 as a Financial Reporting Manager in London. Over the years, he held numerous leadership positions within the company, including CEO of McDonald's UK, and President of McDonald's Europe.
In 2011, Easterbrook left McDonald's to become CEO of PizzaExpress, and later, CEO of Wagamama, both UK-based restaurant chains. However, he returned to McDonald's in 2013, and in 2015, he was appointed CEO of McDonald's Corporation, succeeding Don Thompson.
As CEO, Easterbrook was credited with implementing significant strategic changes at McDonald's, including an emphasis on technology and modernization, and a shift towards more sustainable and healthier food options. However, his tenure was also marked by controversy, including criticism over worker pay and conditions.
Easterbrook was dismissed from McDonald's in 2019 due to a consensual relationship with an employee, which was against company policy.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Easterbrook is divorced and has three children. He is a keen cricket fan and played for the Watford Town Cricket Club in his youth.
