Sub-Aqua Association (SAA) is a UK based scuba diving organization that provides training and certification for divers and instructors. The SAA was established in 1976 and is recognized by the Sport England and the World Underwater Federation (CMAS).

History[edit | edit source]

The Sub-Aqua Association was founded in 1976 by a group of experienced divers who wanted to create a more flexible and accessible training system for scuba diving in the UK. The SAA has since grown to become one of the leading diving organizations in the country, with clubs and members across the UK and overseas.

Training and Certification[edit | edit source]

The SAA offers a comprehensive range of training courses and certifications for divers of all levels, from beginners to advanced divers and instructors. The training system is modular, allowing divers to progress at their own pace and to specialize in areas of interest. The SAA's training and certification system is recognized by Sport England and CMAS, enabling SAA divers to dive worldwide.

Structure and Organization[edit | edit source]

The SAA is a non-profit organization run by its members for its members. It is governed by a National Committee elected by the membership. The SAA's headquarters are located in the UK, but it has clubs and members in many countries around the world.

Activities[edit | edit source]

In addition to training and certification, the SAA organizes a wide range of activities for its members, including dive trips, social events, and conservation projects. The SAA is also involved in promoting safe diving practices and the protection of the underwater environment.
